Yeah, but I think having two exact copies of energy burn might be worth an elite slot. You can't judge it entirely by simple comparison, energy surge won't be going the way of the dodo by this change alone.

Mantra of Recovery is a really nice elite now for the mesmer. 5 energy cost and the duration has been increased. So u will be able to keep it up all the time without having to skill fastcast very high. If this change is true I think mantra of recovery will be one of the most played elite skills for the mesmer.

Why should I run an elite like that when I can run Arcane Echo and another elite?

This change completely makes Energy Surge obsolete.

wow, Energy surge got hit very hard. IMO if they were going to change it they shoukd have just reduced it to nearby range...

Aria of Zeal just went ether renewal with a double nerf. Although it's not quite useless.

Shield of deflection looks very promising now.

The visages..? I think the change was purely because of UW solo, which can still be done I guess...

What I mostly about this change is that because this skill is in fast casting, it makes fast casting much more useful.
Mesmers still have the energy problem though

No, the projectile of the Water Trident will be increased by 25% (it already moves slowly)

Also, here's something interesting from Babelfish:

Divert Hexes now has a 2 Second Cast Time!

That's probably the biggest Necro buff within the entire update.

Necromancers are going to be very, very insane...

Arcane echo would waste energy and you can't keep up a second copy 100% of the time. Taking two copies of a skill is far better than using arcane echo.

So Energy Surge is obsolete. Hmm... I don't really care because I don't use it. :P But seriously what do you expect? There will always be nerfs and they obviously arent just implemented, Anet has good reasons. If you think they did something wrong, just write down your opinions in detail after surveying the "damage". Just please, for the people who want to enjoy the game (like myself and may others currently using this site), dont complain like little kids.
I usually don't get involved but whining continuously based on ignorance drives me mad.

OK then. I'm actually not upset at all about the skill updates. Concerning Sympathetic Visage and Ancestor's visage, they were cheap skills. But look on the bright side, Skele Ether Breakers in FoW now lost out on their SA and Energy Surge, making the Fissure of Woe easier to farm.
Something to look foward to: The map changes, they look cool! :P

Destructive was Glaive adds on more damage to attack spells than is appropriate. Even with armour reduction, it's a bit insane.

25% armour penetration works out to be about 32% more damage on 60 AL targets.
